A very busy three days at The Southern Manufacturing & Electronics Show
Published - 2nd Mar 2020
There was a great turnout at this year’s Southern Manufacturing & Electronics show, despite the Coronavirus outbreak causing operational issues for many and storm Ciara affecting travel. The event was significantly busier than 2019 and the mood felt very optimistic, providing the perfect platform to discuss casting projects.
Farnborough’s International Exhibition & Conference Centre provided a world-class venue with over 800 exhibitors displaying their products and capabilities to 9,256 visitors from a broad range of industries. At the stand we had visitors from the electronics, automotive, aerospace, defence, food processing, medical & scientific equipment and general engineering industries, to name a few.
Plenty of interest was generated, particularly around investment casting, sand casting and pressure die casting but also around gravity die and machining, with aluminium alloys being the most discussed material over the three days.
The Coronavirus epidemic is having an impact for some prospects who are looking for alternative solutions. With our strong UK manufacturing base and alternative low-cost sources, they were keen to talk to us about our capabilities and we are confident in our ability to respond to their needs.
Follow up discussions are well underway with many of the people we met during the show and we are optimistic that the show will drive further growth at Investacast and the wider group.
